Benalmadena consists of 3 distinct areas; the beach front zone, Arroya de la Miel, and up on the hillside the old town of Benalmadena Pueblo. It is one of the bigger Towns of the Costa del Sol, and originates its name from the Arab word ‘Ibn-al-Madena’, meaning children of the mines.
Situated only 8 kms for the International airport at Malaga, Benalmadena is a holiday haven that has retained its popularity over the years and it is no wonder why. From the beaches and Marina, receiving a whopping 7 million visitors a year, you have the choice of virtually every possible water sport and leisure activity. The Sea Life Centre, located at the marina is one of the major tourist attractions with its underwater tunnel, touch pools and Lost City of Atlantis.
Benalmadena offers the whole range of shopping or beaching and partying, including the famous 24 hour square.

In Arroyo de la Miel, a mostly residential Town, you will find the famous Tivoli World amusement park which has a funfair and also hosts live shows and entertainment into the night. The Paloma Park at 200 meters to the beach is a large park of 200.000 sqm. with 100s of ducks, geese, peacocks, roosters, pigeons, etc. and is a welcoming open space in a built up area for everybody. The Ice Club is the first of its kind in Andalucia, and is an ice rink and gives ice skating lessons, open all year. Arroyo de La Miel has train station.
Benalmadena Pueblo is situated 300 meters above sea level and retains much of its original charm and character. The narrow streets and white washed houses are typical of the traditional Andalucian Villages. The Pueblo hosts in Hotel La Fonda a renewed Hotel School with restaurant to the public, where you can try the high cuisine of upcoming chefs, accompanied with fantastic views of the coast. Most of the properties in Benalmadena Pueblo are apartments or townhouses.
Torremar: An elderly urbanization with mainly bungalows and villas on smaller plots.
La Capellania: Sought after villa urbanization between El Higueron and the coast, and consists mainly of villas, quite a few with breath taking views of the coast.
La Reserva del Higueron: Newer urbanization of apartments and townhouses, semi-detached and detached villas, hosting on-site a variety of athletic activities, including indoor heated pool with Spa facilities, 2 tennis courts with tennis school, 11 paddle tennis courts receiving top ranking players repeatedly, etc.
Torremuelle: Established urbanization closer to the beach, most of the properties on sale here are elderly villas, of which many enjoy nice of fantastic sea views. Torremuelle also hosts the English International School and has its own train station on the commuter link between Malaga and Fuengirola.
