The mayor of Estepona has announced that the main avenue that runs along the beach in Estepona, Avenida de Espana, will be pedestrianised. Works are likely to commence in September 2021, and will start from the light tower to the roundabout of Glorieta de la Union Europea. In steps the works will continue East. Inevitably works will at first cause frustration and extra noise, but long-term, however, it will create wonderful new open spaces and seamless interaction between the many shops, restaurants and cafés along the avenue and the beach and promenade.
